This huge publicly run, and free, farm in Yamanashi is a great escape from Tokyo. You can pet ponies, sheep and goats. The farm itself is several square kilometers, and largely empty! Stunning views of Akadake mountain and even Mt. Fuji on a clear day.

A photo gallery of cosmos hill at Showa Kinen Park in Tachikawa, along with an HD video. The cosmos were in full bloom and swaying peacefully in the breeze. A good place to escape from Tokyo without leaving Tokyo.
