Even though over half the U.S. Japanese population was living in Hawaii during WWII, only a sliver of them were put in internment camps (versus on the mainland, where almost all Japanese were put away). How did this happen, especially since Japanese in Hawaii had closer ties to the Empire of Japan? read more »

An article from the Japan Times on the dedication of a garden led to some research of the treatment of Japanese Canadians during WWII. One of the women involved with the garden was interred by the Canadian Government when she was a child and I located a video where she discusses her experiences. read more »
