Japan's biggest community site for cosplayers, "Cure", has grown to a very respectable 300,000 registered users. With English localization now in effect, the number of Cure users who are not Japanese (already 10%) is expected to grow substantially. read more »

2channel is a huge anonymous chat forum in Japan, but there's an alternative just for women - Hatsugen Komachi. It's run by Yomiuri and, unlike 2channel, is moderated. But, it still gets some interesting anonymous posts as Shunichi Arai on asiajin.com points out. read more »

The Washington Post has a wifi hotspot search tool that pulls up over 2,000 places in Tokyo, and you can find wireless internet in other cities, too, just by changing the search terms. I had no idea you could surf the net from McDonald's! read more »
