Here's a sushi menu in English from a restaurant in Victoria B.C, Canada. I've been in Japan for over 10 years and still don't know all my sushi so this will come in handy. Here's an article from the Mainichi about a ceremony in Toyami in which fish are made to drink a large dose of sake and then are let back into the river. Apparently, it's a ritual from the Edo period. I don't know whether to feel sorry for the fish, or be jealous of it! read more »
