Did you know that Mount Fuji, Japan's most famous volcano, could quite likely erupt causing over 12 million people to suffer from ash inhalation? Did you know that the summit is actually privately owned and the owner could close it to the public? Those are just two of the "9 Smashing Trivia Bits on Japan's Mount Fuji".

Wow being privately owned is something I did not know. (Not that I know that much about it anyway!) While it is not the biggest by a large margin, I do get to see it about once every two months and driving along the highway and suddenly seeing it, still is an amazing thing.
I have been fortunate to see Mount Fuji in it's many faces and do think that it is a real treasure for Japan. I long for the day that a "Starbucks" is placed on the top and it really should not be too long now as there seems to be a new "Starbucks" popping up on every corner!
Keith
PS. If not a Starbucks then I will settle for a Family mart or Circle K convenience store!!

There's a post office on top which has probably been privatized, so expect snacks, magazines and light bulbs available from a mountain top near you soon!
