Japan-Hopper.com is a clever mashup of Google Maps, Wikipedia and stories from sightseers in Japan. Since the webmaster, Kiyotaka Maruyama, is looking for authors and is willing to pay, I thought I'd put the word out to the foreign community.

I can't find the job information on their site. And they don't respond to email.

I just checked - I had seen the information on the site a little while back, but maybe the response to the monetary incentive was so high that it has been withdrawn? I can't find it now either. Oh well. Ha ha.

Typical. Within days of this post, they change the site around and remove the paid article offer. I heard nothing from Mr. Maruyama, either. Oh well, I hope some people still find the site useful.

Yeah - but is the offer still on the table? My guess is that since you had to use your most excellent Google-fu to unearth the page, the offer has been rescinded. Boo.

Hold on... using some of my ninja-like, Google search skills, I've tracked down the original offer to here: http://www.japan-hopper.com/author-wanted/ .
