I only just learned what FTW meant within the last few months. Abbreviations like this are as silly as Japanese shortening loan words into new nonsense like "Rajikase". If you elect me, I promise to do away with such silliness!

I know that it stands for "for the win", but whenever I see it, I can't help thinking... erm... "Fornicate" The World.

If you want to understand what the kids are saying these days, you've got to know what these acronyms and other news words mean.
If one wants to keep on top of things but is not in the presence of multiple people under the age of 30, then I recommend watching DiggNATION (http://revision3.com/diggnation/), it's epic.
Now if I can just find a sign somewhere in Japan with the word FAIL in it, now that would be an epic win!

Go on then, let me in on the joke. What's FAIL?
Edit: Just found out thanks to the Urban Dictionary. It means... "to fail"

lol yeah -that's the thing, Nick they really are just abbreviations - they aren't particularly clever or insightful. Most of them you need to get someone to confirm what they are because often they could be something else.
