I've come to have a very different idea of what the "news" should be. In my opinion, news should serve the public, not promote their sponsors or scare the shit out of us. If the murderer were still at large, as in the case of Ichihashi Tatsuya, then there would be reason to inform the public. In this case, though, they've already got the guy.
Of course, it's wishful thinking on my part for the news to be no more than a series of public service announcements.

Japan's justice system leave something to be desired...
This guy was in jail for a similar crime (but not charged with murder) and they may not charge him with murder again?
Can't they look for more physical evidence?
They just seem incompetent to deal with this type of crime, as in Joji Obara (Lucie Blackman's murderer) and Lindsay hawker's alleged murderer on the run (who escaped several police officer's at his home)
