JapanSoc Sumo is a ranking system, where the most active users get more points and rank higher. The highest level possible is the almighty Yokozuna, but you'll need a whopping 10,000 points for that! JapanSoc is all about the community, and although we get together here to vote for and comment on Japan-related articles, we don't do enough bonding! I just hacked up a wee XML file that allows people to add a button that allows easy submission of stories from a FeedBurner feed to JapanSoc. Hopefully many blogs adopt it and both publishers and readers can benefit. read more »

Apparently a beta version of the v2.2 firmware for the iPhone has emoji in it.

Due to this story also appearing in perhaps a German publication and pointing to the Wikipedia entry where I have a link, I've been getting about 15 to 20 visitors per hour from Wikipedia. read more »

Dale Carnegie once said, "a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language". That applies to domain names, too. Let's hear a big "yay!" for Japan as it has topped a recent study into internet broadband quality. The big English speaking nations failed to make the top 10 which includes Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia.
