Oh? Do tell! Is it actually linked to Nazi-era eugenics? Or did I just imagine that?

Hey that's what I am teaching on this month

Okay, let me just add some weight to your statement, "The idea is to create a robot solider". DARPA (research arm of the Department of Defense) confirm in this .pdf document that Big Dog will "bring more to the fight" by supporting ground troops, and while they don't explicitly say the dog itself will be armed, it would certainly seem likely at some point in the future, and that is quite a frightening prospect.
Although this video is just a joke, it does raise public awareness of the Big Dog project, and people should be somewhat alarmed that such technology is being developed for military purposes and not humanitarian ones.

I definitely felt guilty taking the shots because they are pretty intrusive. But I figured the purpose of my article was to explain how horrible it is for commuters here . . .

This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_in_a_Bubble is how you take that concept and do something interesting with it. It was a fascinating project and actually entertaining too.

It's a great experiment to see if we are born with taste! If the child won't stop crying take off the godawful apron and see if they stop lol!

Is McDonalds more expensive here at least - like Dominos? The problem with it in Australia (and the States) is it's cheaper than actually buying some vegies and some meat to feed your family and yet it has no real nutrients except sugar and fat so people's cells are starving despite a full (sort of) tummy. So few people even know how to cook fresh food to make it tasty that they are raising their families on this rubbish and wonder why they don't have the energy to do anything but watch TV and why insulin resistance then diabetes sets in...

I think mine was on my birth certificate and they tell you when you give blood (not that I've done so for long a while /shame)

Wow that's interesting. What caused the battery to go bad? I didn't think they'd been around long enough for that to happen yet!
That hybrid's are the eco alternative isn't certain - no doubt they are great for less petrol use and fumes on the road but apparently the extra technology required to manufacture them versus bolting some metal together like a non-luxury non-hybrid car ends up being around the same resource and pollution-wise. Or so I read somewhere... didn't check the background of the source.

What a conspiracy! My own blood is out to cause cognitive dissonance in me? This story is getting increasingly gnarly by the minute.

That they have realized the bliss of American cuisine.

This makes sense as MickyD`s is cheap and fills your belly up when you are hungry. Although, what does this say about the eating habits of the Japanese people?

I am a little surprise to see this thing in Japan. It is being developed for military purposes with the US government. There are a few projects like this one currently under development for their military usage. The big dog is the one which is making the most progress.
The idea is to create a robot solider. One which can think, move, and react on its own without being given commends from their human counterparts.
Actually, it does make sense to test it on the streets of Tokyo away from the eyes of the American public. Most Americans would be shocked by such a technology. The Japanese usually welcome such things as it is seen as an improvement to daily life.

that sounds confusing.

Me neither, and hopefully I'll never need to know.

Those hybrid are really hard cars to work on. If the battery goes bad it almost cost as much as buying a new car.
A friend of my mine back in the states had one. He liked it until the battery went bad.

hehe your species says that - we are none of us quite who we think we are and the more confident we are that we know, the further away from the truth we probably are!

Before we moved here we had just started driving a Prius it was a really weird experience because for at least the first few weeks (I only drove once or twice a week) every time I pulled the car up to the traffic lights I'd jump at the lack of noise and think I'd stalled it! Of course then I'd remember it was an auto, and then electric and that the engine had indeed switched itself off!
Totally loved the car once I got used to it btw - was annoyed I couldn't arrange one here - but it did take some getting used to. It was rather like turning on an iron or other such silent-running household appliance, no real sense of VROOM but that was also fun in it's own way.
I also discovered there is something called "hybrid guilt" this is when, upon getting out of or returning to your hybrid at the same time as the driver of the SUV parked beside you does same, the driver of said SUV feels compelled to explain why he must drive an SUV "My daughter rides so I need to pull a float...", "I'm a soccer coach I have to carry the whole team sometimes otherwise I'd definitely...", LOL

That first shot is excellent. Goes to show what I always say (more like think), half of getting a great photograph is having the guts to press the shutter.
I would never have the guts to take a shot in a train like that!
Actually. I'm so short I'm about the size of the average Japanese guy. I probably wouldn't be able to get my arm up high enough to take the shot anyway
