I hope those people he's bumping into are actors...otherwise it'd be so mean :(

The things people pollute their bodies with....
I've lived in Tokyo, in the heart of Shinjuku just a few minutes walk from where this dude first went, and I've never even come close to having a "Tokyo Blur."

Even Japanese people have trouble with landlords. If you can speak Japanese on a basic everyday conversational level, you can find a nice apartment on your own, if you're determined enough. Every fudosanya I've been to has been very helpful in avoiding the racist-scumbag landlords and taking me to quality places that were within my target range.
Of course, if you speak little or zero Japanese, you should expect to have to use these kinds of services.

"Well, I actually really like the corn and mayonnaise pizza"
For the above statement, you are hereby required to either remain in the land of the rising sun for the remainder of your days, or slice off your pinky-finger and return home immediately for re-education.

It was a good time. Unfortunately, as has not been the case with all of the smaller-scale festivals I've been to, the Koenji Awaodori festival isn't set up for audience participation. In a smaller Awaodori festival I went to a couple of years ago, it seemed like half the city was drunk and dancing in the streets with the performers.
But anyway, the Tokyo Awaodori festival is definitely worth checking out.

Tokyo has such a surreal look to it at times. The city is so modern and advanced that many of us Tokyo people forget that we are living in THE jewel city of Asia.

Well, I actually really like the corn and mayonnaise pizza. It is always fun to try new and exciting ways to have pizza. Although, when I can talk the wife into it I try to get a classic pizza.

Looks like a good time billy. A Japanese festival is always good old fashioned fun.

The sky city idea would not surprise me at all if Tokyo actually attempts to build it someday. As far as the Pyramid city goes...well we are not smart enough to actually pull it off; yet.

You guys so true romantics in the traditional idea. The gal and I never did anything like that at all. We are more of a post-modern couple. Just agreed to get married and filed out the paperwork. I love her all the same.

This is a very good thing indeed. I was lucky in the respect that I simply got married and moved into the same apartment that I wife was renting so the landlord could not say much to us. I have heard stories of landlords being real dicks to non-Japanese people. I hope this effort of multi-cultural renting is a huge success.

Wolverine turned Japanese. That is gonna be interesting. With the passive nature of Japanese culture and the very aggressive and dark nature of Wolverine I wonder how the two will mix.

I remember when Yamanba was all the rage. They freak me out a little but they are cool in their own special way. Some of those gals are actually a lot of fun to hang with.

I kind of thought the same thing. Misleading. The only one that really was a fashion trend of any actual notoriety was the horrifying ganguro / yamanba / sentaa-gyaru make-up.

None of these are fashion trends.

Awww...your second edit makes me not so keen on what I had previously thought was a "JACKPOT" kind of moment. Sad. They jumped on it already? Man.

they're probably wondering how the parents raised such a sick twisted monster who would do that to another human being. Hope they hang him high

yeah, that's footage that I shot from about 3-4 tournaments. One clip is from my digital photo camera's video function at the Sept 2006 tournament. There's also footage from Nagoya's 2007 tournament and the outdoor event they put on at Yasakuni every April.

They also had an Extreme Engineering: Sky City special on Tokyo a while back, it was really impressive and I guess it's something that's really being considered to be built.

What if you don't have a TV in Japan? I think this is very useful for those who have internet access in Japan/elsewhere, but don't have a tv. I have yet to download this but I have already used keyhole tv and I know that it is a lot of fun. Thanks for the heads up koichi.
Edit: Just started farting around with the program. Watching the Yomiuri Shinbun Channel. I don't see any channels like NHK or Terebi Tokyo yet, but that might just be temporary. The quality of the feed is pretty nice. A step above keyhole tv in that regard.
Edit2: Apparently those "regular" Japanese TV channels have been taken down. Shucks..

Indeed. They look like you took them live. If that is the case that is great.
