Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) have teamed up to create a telecommunications satellite capable of delivering 1.2 GigaBytes per second to internet users. That amount isn't shared, either. Although most of us will not make use of this kind of speed in the next few years, this will open the doors to telemedicine and long-distance operations.
Of course, it's just a matter of time before there are more of these satellites in orbit ready to give us all a 1.2 GB connection in our home.

I can certainly throw a Soc, but I must protest the original source. This was on NHK last night and I had scooped most of the info from the broadcast. The rest was collected from a Yahoo! News artice here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/japan_space_satellite_dc
CNN is just ... ugh. There isn't even a word for how I feel about that ultra-biased, politically motivated, trash-talking corporation.
Either way, Soc sent. Regardless of our sources, this could open brand new internet markets and reshape the face of the web in Asia

Matigo - Sorry for what was seen as a soc beg. Please de-soc and bury it. Apparently linking to that article I submitted was a faux pas, and your article beats the pants off of a CNN blurb with a picture. (Just figured that they were related.) Sorry!

WTF?
You wanna soc a duplicate story?
This one already got the 3 votes so you should bury yours. I would think you would be the first to see the need to bury a duplicate.

Fair enough. Bury away. I have no turf issues.
