Actually I like that Orange color. A lot of Japan related sites go with red and white so using orange gives JapanSoc its own special look.
I also have noticed that the good usually floats to the surface. JapanSoc has got the personal feel which is great.
Overall, JapanSoc looks to shaping up to be a great place to read and discover blogs about Japan.

Good point. Give some options people could choose from apart from the orange. That could actually work is the themes are interesting.

Even if the site didn't have them, I think multicoloured buttons are a must. Maybe Nick could release the button code and images and people could make their own?

Guys, I agree it would be nice if you could choose different colors for the site, but it's a heck of a job. You're talking about what Yahoo Japan does, right? (See color choices in the top-right): http://www.yahoo.co.jp/ I think they do that with Ajax, which is beyond my programming skills.
Mike, when you say "button", I assume you're talking about the Wordpress plugin button. Here's theimage if you want to make your own: http://www.japansoc.com/evb/img/vote-01.png

Hey! Blast from the past! Hi Marcus, well yes and no. JapanSoc is based on the Pligg CMS, but I've had to hack the code so much to get it working how I wanted it to.
