I had no idea that the 7-Eleven convenience store chain was owned by Ito-Yokado, who rescued the American company from bankruptcy in the 80s and now has a controlling share of the world's largest chain store (beating even McDonald's). This ValleyWag article suggests that what happened to 7-Eleven could happen to Yahoo, with Yahoo Japan capable of taking over the U.S. operation.
