Engineers at the University of Kitakyushu have developed one of the most unique looking robots that I have seen in a very long time.
This red snapper is actually a robotic fish known as “Tai-robot-kun”. It weighs 15.4lbs, and features hand painted scales for realism. And I must say that it looks very realistic, fooled me for a bit. Tai-robot-kun mimics a real fish swimming silently in the water, and can go for as long as an hour with a full battery.

The explanation was great, but in the video it looked anything but realistic, flapping its tail awkwardly and swimming slowly into the glass. Funny, though.

From the pictures the fish looked real; however, the video did not do the little guy any justice. I like the idea of attaching cameras to the fish in order to explore underwater.

Now if only they could perfect robotic sushi, the world's remaining tuna would heave a bubbly sigh of relief.
