Chris, firstly that is a great effort considering it was regular level 5! Hope you don't mind me asking what materials you used to study for the test? Did you do dummy tests or just study vocabulary from the tests?
It is really nice to see a teacher with your focus and many kudos to you!!

Thanks Keith, Their real strength is speaking but I think the English Diaries had the biggest effect. I ask them to write 3 entries per week at home. The have to struggle to find the vocabulary they don't know and build a sentence. I also asked the parents to buy them an Eiken 5 study book for use at home. And I downloaded the written and listening test 5 from the previous year and had a simulated test. You can download all the tests just google "eiken step".
Actually I found out yesterday 2 of them got perfect scores (not 1) and one missed 2 Q's .
I am pleased with their "win".
