So many of them wouldn't dream of doing it in the US. I really don't get why they do it and/or why they don't put they feet down and say "No. This is crap, your script sucks. You're making a fool of me," like they would in the states. It seems they have so little respect for the Japanese that they assume it's supposed to be that way. Scarlet Johansen doing one recently was funny in its irony considering the film that brought her to the attention of most us but let's face it - it was embarassing.
But then I'm with Bill Hicks - once you go down that road there's only one word for you (well he has several but it all comes down to the same thing lol)
I have seen Brad Pitt do a few and I actually thought it was pretty cool. It does not brother me that they do ads in Japan. They are getting paid so I cannot down them for that at all.
I also agree. In Japan CMs aren't looked down on like they are in the States. It seems that in the States people think you are a washed up celeb if you start doing CMs. On average CMs here are pretty funny, so its an extra treat to see someone like Tommy Lee Jones in there selling coffee.
