I just found this tale of Santa being presented nailed to a cross by retailers in Japan after WWII. Somehow I suspect it isn't true - has anyone else heard of this?

I'll try it if I can get my hands on it....Not quite as bad as Nakashima Mika's version (honestly what could be?), but...OH wait a minute...it is damn pricey for just a three pack....This might actually be good. I haven't heard this, but it wouldn't surprise me considering how many communication problems there were during the tumultuous 40's and 50's
For the Japanese it seems that X-mas is all about the gifts, lights, and drinking.
I vaguely remember hearing of this myth about Santa when I was in Japan. One thing is for sure, Japan doesn't 'get' Christmas unless it's all about commercialism.
I must say... You know it's bad when I'm thinking "I can't wait to get back to the West where Christmas isn't such a crass exercise in commercialism"
