The 2008 Olympic held in Beijing China was a spectacular once in a lifetime experience but as the games move unto London in 2012 the process for selecting to host country for the games in 2016 is already underway. The four cities shortlisted earlier this year that are now competing for the honour are Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Chicago and Tokyo.

I would vote for Rio. How in the world can Madrid or Tokyo think they could get them? Madrid is just a stone's throw from London, and the same region of Asia would have hosted the games just 8 years earlier as well. And Tokyo has already hosted them!
Seems the election of Obama has Japanese officials worried that Chicago will win the bid for the 2016 Olympics:

Why would Chicago be a good place to have the games? Chicago has got a crime problem that would even put St. Louis to shame.
If Chicago wins just because of the current Obama-fever that has spread throughout the world, then I will lose the last remaining shred of respect I have for the Olympic games.
Speaking of which ... are we allowed to use the world "Olympics" on this site without first obtaining permission from the IOC?
