The Great Osu Kannon Shopping... Swindle?

If at any time during your stay in Nagoya, however short or long that may be, you happen to ask anyone where the best place to buy [insert anything at all except fresh food and furniture] you will no doubt be given the same answer: Osu Kannon. But how do you get there, exactly, and once you are there is it really the place for bargain shopping? Maybe the Japanese mean something different when they tell you it's "the best place to go"...

I have found that the hardest part of finding a location in Japan is the fact that many streets in the cities are not named at all!
