The 2008 budget deliberations have begun at the House of Representatives in Tokyo, and it will likely be another example of why the Japanese political system is so broken.

With all the money that is misallocated, wasted, or outright stolen, it's a shame that the Fukuda government can't live up to their promise of reform and stamp out a fiscally responsible budget that not only protects consumers from rising taxes, but sends a clear message to the world that Japan is a nation that can stand on its own two feet.

Perhaps it's time Japan had their own Obama.
