Japanese Consumption Tax - Looking Ahead

We're so lucky here in Japan. We only pay 5% consumption tax compared to countries like Sweden who are lumbered with a staggering 25%. But how long will this last? Jason gives us a play-by-play look at how he sees the next few years unfolding. Political games to keep up appearances, definitely worth a read.

What I really don't like about this article is just how plausible it sounds. While I was writing it I kept telling myself that I read too much into the news and should perhaps stop reading so much fiction.

Unfortunately, the last 50 years of Japan's "democratic" government has shown us just how possible all this really is.

I thought it wasn't a very good article myself. I also found mentioning "federal" all the time indicated someone who doesn't understand the Japanese political system.
