Here's a moving story of a woman who fainted and fell from the platform as a train pulled into the station. She was wedged between the train and the platform and everyone rushed to her aid. Told by an eyewitness.

Wow. That is a great story. That counters stories of how Japanese ignore the plights of others.
I think often as outside observers foreigners are too quick to jump to broad conclusions about the Japanese. Hey are human, they can be both kind or unkind, not only one or the other.
