Why? Personally it's what is expected. I mean compared to Americans, the Japanese work ethic is simply beyond our comprehension. Work is not just work for them either. It's also highly linked to social aspects as well. My husband is taking a job in Japan so it will be expected of him as well. It's also quite expensive to live there.
But aren't the wages are also correlate to the cost of living? My question is simple: can you live without all of the overtime, or there is no chance to pay monthly bills based only the bas salary?
