In the old game Leisure Suit Larry, to test the user's age, the program asked a series of questions about politics and stuff. As a kid, this encouraged my friends and I to swat up on education so we could answer the questions and see the digital boobs.
I think rewarding Hiroshma's youth with a few dirty pictures in exchange for a bit of extra study is a good deal for all involved. All in favor, rate this comment! ;)

Sorry, Shane, I meant it's something Hiroshima should do, but they aren't. Instead, they're just making up yet another law/rule, something like "Under 18 = DAME!!!!"
I should mention that the Asahi article doesn't only mention "sexually titillating" sites, but also that "gakko ura" sites - kind of unofficial school bulletin boards where online bullying occurs and can provide "fertile soil for crime".

Nick - no worries, I was just being sarcastic. I'm all for it too and you make a great point about the fact that once something is forbidden it actually becomes more desirable.
Government regulation of internet access. How wonderful. If people are so worried about their kids having access to certain internet content then do not give your kid any money to spend on the internet cafe. But no, lets just let the government do the job that parents should be doing in the first place.
