Second-hand stores, called "Recycle Shops" in Japanese are a great place to get good stuff for very cheap. Very cheap. And some of the stuff you'll find isn't even used (factory stickers in tact). Check it out.

I actually got a brochure for one of these stores in my mailbox and wanted to go check it out but I can't read the darn thing to figure out where the stores are located! Time to put my hubbies interpreter to good use...

Actually over the years I have found these shops have become more expensive. I needed to buy a 22inch TV and they were actually cheaper at most big electrical shops. However, I do know bargains can still be had at these shops and recently bought a surfboard (New) for 10,000 yen and was probably worth 4 times that!
