So what is the average rent for say a 2LDK apartment in Tokyo? I'm in Gifu and you can find a nice one for around 60,000 yen.

Tokyo is pretty big, and it varies from ward to ward, but in a cheaper place like Itabashi, you can find 2LDKs for around ï¿¥100,000 per month. Get out toward an area like Machida and the rents drop to like ï¿¥85,000/month.
