Do you think that guys who date Japanese girls are generally sleazy, failures in their home countries, or otherwise to be looked down upon? Clay doesn't. He thinks it could be slight racism mixed with the sour grapes mentality. What do you think?

It's definitely easier for a foreign guy to find a date in Japan, but it's hardly something foreign women should be angry about (though some of them do seem to have a chip on their shoulder about it). I agree with Clay when he says it would be just as easy, if not easier, for a foreign woman to get a date if they just had the courage to ask someone out. Heck, they could find a Japanese man with a click of their fingers!
My wife is Japanese and quite the catch. My ex-girlfriend was Australian and quite the catch and it both circumstances it was many other people who thought this. So now am I sleazy just because I have a Japanese wife mmmm I certainly think not! This in my eyes is degrading to my wife and while I'm not perfect, I know she would not date some sleazy gaijin. Yeah I like women and tend to flirt but mmmmm most guys do and it is kinda what makes us guys! (I did it in Australia too!!)
I really think it is case by case. One of my staff once said to everyone in the office that "Japanese women are stupid for wanting to date gaijin". She was lucky not to be sacked on the spot because of her ignorance.
While there are people with issues out there, so bloody what!! If you get the chance to date a fine looking women or man and are single geez why would you knock that back!
Usually the people who knock this or make an issue out of this are people who are not getting laid!!
C'mon to those who have issues out there with this and get over it!!

I used to react to people in America who'd ask me "So, you gonna marry a Japanese girl?" before I left pretty strongly. I 'd say I'm not hunting down a Japanese person in some weird trophy-wife racist fashion. But then I said that because I would be living in Japan, the odds of meeting and falling in love with a Japanese woman would be much higher. Same as if I moved anywhere else. I think it's a mistake to assume a racial or cultural fetish on the part of men who date locals. You'd have to be a really shallow person to leave out personality, beliefs, morals, philosophy, worldview, upbringing, attraction, and any other number of characteristics when considering a potential mate. And I feel as though this stereotype seriously objectifies Japanese women as a singular entity to be sought after. The whole thing is too messy, from all angles. I just love the back and forth.
