This is simply scary! I now only worry that me being me, I might get myself into the same sort of trouble. I have never really been one to back down too often but now mmmmmmm sheesh, I might just turn into a meek little mice and never voice my concerns. Just today I had a go at the idiots cutting all the beautiful trees down in the park next to my office and often voice my concern at things like Japanese Only bars and discrimination. Upon reading this article, it really does worry me that police can be that corrupt.
Personally I have had reasonably good experiences with cops here in Japan however, this article honestly scares me and maybe it's time to practice a little more self-control and not be quite so vocal.

Between this and the recent news reports on gravely ill people being turned away from multiple emergency rooms only to die later makes me more equally concerned about getting sick in Japan.
I think that Japan should be concerned about it's reputation as a safe place to live.
