40% of Japanese Newlyweds go to Hawaii

I've always wondered why Hawaii is so popular with the Japanese. Shouldn't they all be going to Okinawa, and promoting their own tropical island to the world as a Hawaii-beating honeymoon destination? Isn't that what national pride is all about? Surprisingly, only 10% of those who went on honeymoon domestically went to Okinawa. I haven't been to either so what would I know!

I went to England on my honeymoon so I could introduce my wife to my parents! :)

I think she would have preferred Hawaii, though.

I went to Zimbabe for my honeymoon. I wouldn't want to go there now!

Having read the link, what is more sad is that 87% took less than a week for their honeymoon.

Me and my betty have been talking about going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Surely we have been duped by an international cabal of well-monied industrialists! Heaven help me!

If you go to Hawaii I would highly recommend the outer islands. Waikiki is where ALL the tourists go, but there is a lot of natural beauty and more Hawaiiana on the other islands of the chain IMHO.

Also, people always assume that going to Hawaii in the winter is the best time because it's warmer than other places. That's true but winter is also the rainiest time of year in Hawaii in some places. I spent some wet - rather than white - Christmases when growing up.
